Hatha yoga is a gentle yoga that creates a link between the body and mind. The classes focus on basic pranayama breathing, slower-paced stretching asanas and with a seated meditation at the end. Hatha is a good way to work on your alignment while building strength and flexibility and minimising the chance of injury. You will learn relaxation techniques as you stretch, unwind and release tension, making it a good counterpoint to both busy lifestyles and cardio workouts. The aim with hatha yoga is to still the mind and be present in the moment in order to reap the benefits from your practice which include less stress, lower blood pressure, more energy and better sleep.
